2025 Was the Year of Detroit

Celebrating the Innovation, Culture, and Spirit of the Motor City
At JVIS, we’re proud to call Detroit home, and in 2025, we’ve spent the year celebrating everything that makes this city extraordinary. From world-class engineering to deep cultural roots and hometown pride, each month of The Year of Detroit has highlighted the people, places, and traditions that define the Motor City.
January – The Detroit Auto Show
We kicked off the year at one of Detroit’s most iconic events: at the Detroit Auto Show. As a 2025 Hospitality Sponsor, JVIS celebrated over a century of automotive innovation and the city’s ongoing role as the heart of the global mobility industry. (And we all be back again at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show!)

February – Honoring Black History
For Black History Month, we recognized the leaders, artists, and entrepreneurs who built Detroit’s cultural and economic foundation… from Motown legends to civil rights pioneers.
March – Traditions That Unite
March brought the joy of Pączki Day and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, two Detroit favorites celebrating the city’s Polish and Irish heritage with community, food, and fun.

April – Opening Day in the D
Spring in Detroit always means one thing: baseball. Fans filled Comerica Park for the Tigers’ Opening Day, continuing one of Detroit’s most spirited traditions. The momentum from Opening Day carried throughout the entire season, taking the Tigers all the way to playoffs for the second year in a row!
May – Flower Day at Eastern Market
We celebrated the beauty of spring at Eastern Market’s Flower Day, one of Detroit’s oldest and most colorful community events.

June – Summer Vibes in the City
From Belle Isle to the Detroit Riverwalk, June was all about soaking up sunshine and celebrating the city’s outdoor beauty.
July – The Sound of Detroit
Detroit turned up the volume with live music across the city, from Concert of Colors to the Motown Museum on Rocket Plaza, honoring the city’s unmatched musical legacy.

August – Building Bridges
Detroit’s iconic bridges symbolize strength and connection. With the Gordie Howe International Bridge nearing completion, the city continues to link nations—just as JVIS bridges technology and innovation.
September – Lions Season Begins
Detroit roared back to life as the Lions kicked off their season at Ford Field, reminding us all what Detroit pride looks like on game day. The Lions had a great season last year, making it to the NFC Championship game. They’re having another great season so far, so we’re hoping to see them back there this season!

October – Hockey, Hoops, and Heart
Fall means the Red Wings and Pistons are back at Little Caesars Arena, keeping Detroit’s sports legacy thriving in the heart of the city.
Additionally, Detroit was awarded the 2025 National Planning Excellence Award for its Joe Lewis Greenway Neighborhood Planning Study! This greenway spans across 23 Detroit neighborhoods and 30 miles of trail, and has been a space for recreation, economic opportunity, housing stability, and environmental justice. Detroitmi.gov
November – Thankful in Detroit
November brought Detroit together for the Thanksgiving Parade and a roaring Lions game, filling Woodward Avenue with energy, pride, and gratitude. From family traditions to citywide celebrations, Detroit’s spirit of community shines brightest this time of year.

December – Holidays in the Heart of the City
Detroit celebrates the holiday season at Campus Martius Park… where skaters, lights, and the city’s grand tree bring downtown to life. It’s the perfect way to close out another unforgettable year in Detroit.
Looking Ahead
As we move into this next year, the people at JVIS remain inspired by this city’s innovation, resilience, and energy. Detroit is more than our home… it’s our motivation to keep building, creating, and driving the future forward.
