JVIS Commissions Detroit Artist to Fabricate Globe for New Corporate Signage
We moved into our incredible new headquarters earlier this year. But now the building has even greater curb appeal — thanks the one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted globe signage standing outside our doors.
Looking for a bold, innovative design that really represents how JVIS turns raw materials into beautiful and functional products, we commissioned local artist Eddy Bullock to create a metal globe for our new corporate signage. Known for his distinctive techniques that transform metal into beautiful works of art, Bullock fabricated a sign derived from the globe within the JVIS logo. This globe symbolizes both our global presence and the world-class companies that we work with.
The sign has already been installed at our new JVIS HQ in Shelby Township, with additional globes to be installed at the three other JVIS USA locations (in Benton Harbor, MI and Clinton Township, MI) this summer.
The innovative techniques that Bullock used to create the JVIS globes even drew national attention via the engineering blog Hackaday. This blog for engineering enthusiasts featured the JVIS globes in an article highlighting Bullock’s technical skills and the inventive techniques he used to fabricate the globes.
“This jig is visually stunning to look at, but the math used to lay something like this out is only mildly interesting compared to the work done to add the continents to the piece. Each of these were cut out and then hand hammered to match the curve of the globe before being welded in place and outfitted with lighting for cities. About the Globe Designer/Fabricator: Eddy Bullock (Detroit, MI – 1979) is an emerging artist who resides and works in Hazel Park, MI. Hoping to inspire others with his organic designs, Bullocks work has been displayed at various festivals, in public installations and is included in many private collections. Working typically in metals, he has developed an uncanny attention to details that shines through in his work.
